NHS Innovations Award for Patient Safety in 2010 for an electonic DVT Risk Assessment e-Tool
2012 Patients Safety Award at the Royal College of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland, for a study that looked into levels of care at weekends in the NHS.

Mr Howard has a vested interest to improve patient care, he has set up clinical trials, written articles and presents at national meetings on a yearly basis:
2017/19 - Chief Investigator for MAVEN Study, Colchester, comparing a new compression treatment with traditional best therapy for venous ulceration (Sponsored by MEDI UK)
2012-2019 - Development and national presentation of Thoracic Outlet Rib Resection Surgery techniques and patient series
2012-18 - Development of a new procedure for laparoscopic repair of refractory aortic aneurysm endoleaks presented at international meetings
2010-16 - Development of laparoscopic surgery for Cyclists' Iliac Endofibrosis
Presentations - Mr Howard presents his work regularly at national and international meetings.
